The Riu Merengue is a deluxe all-inclusive resort situated beachfront in Maimon Bay, surrounded by 18, 000 square feet of tropical gardens, approximately six miles from Puerto Plata and 16 miles from Puerto Plata International Airport. The rooms and suites feature private bathrooms, telephones, central A/C, fans, mini-bars, liquor dispensers, satellite/cable TVs, in-room safes, and balconies or terraces. As with all these resorts there is loads to do or plenty of nice places to relax depending on what sort of holiday you're after. There's a kiosk and boutique, Internet room, mini-club, complimentary lounge chairs, towel service, and umbrellas, continental breakfast and full American breakfast buffet, and facilities at the Caribbean Street location, including the Renova Spa with massage services and sauna, gym, hairdresser, pharmacy, jeweler, photo studio, game room, and shopping arcade.
Onsite drinks and dining are available at the La Roca Restaurant, La Rumba lounge bar, La Plaza Bar, Macumba poolside snack bar, and the Pacha Disco. The all-inclusive rates include all meals and snacks, unlimited domestic beverages, mini-bar and liquor dispenser re-stocking, land activities, daily entertainment programs for adults and children, an introductory scuba lesson in the pool, three lighted tennis courts, non-motorized water sports, evening entertainment, and free entrance to the Pacha Disco and El Millon Casino. The staff are welcoming and helpful. A nice place to stay with absolutely loads of choice for everyone.
