We had a brilliant 4 night stay, We were able to upgrade to a suite for an additional $80 per night which gave us a fantastic room. The hotel is situated 5 minutes from Times Square and Broadway and with in walking distance of Central Park. we used the local bus service (m20) to travel to Greenage Village and the Brooklyn Bridge. The hotel staff were really helpful and friendly The hotel resturant was lovely, but a bit expensive. There are loads of great and reasonably priced, places to eat close by. The hotel operates it's own limo service which is only a fraction more expensive than a yellow cab, but was well worth it for the luxury and comfort on the return journey to JFK !!

We got a great deal through Skoosh, had a fantastic stay and would definitely highly recommend this hotel located in the very midst of Midtown. We stayed for three nights mid-february '08. Great location (four minutes' walk from Times Square), 10 minutes' walk (depending on how much gawping you do along the way) from Grand Central, and close to a choice of Subway stations (highly recommend the Subway too - clean, efficient and not at all intimidating!). Located just off Fifth Avenue - within easy walking distance to the Rockefeller Centre, Central Park, Tiffany's, etc. We were well met by reception, shown to our room which was much larger than expected, with controllable air conditioning, a ridiculously comfortable bed, huge bathroom with bath and a big walk-in shower. We did not have breakfast in the hotel, but room service was prompt and delicious. We couldn't have asked for anything more!

This was our 2nd stay this year for 4 nights each visit. The hotel's location is central. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well appointed and SOUND proof but what it lacks is sincere warmth with staff. Both times I felt like they were doing me a favor to be there. Issues with Sofitel Privilege card credit when you pay for the room through the internet ( Skoosh ) No credit for stay. Staff neglected to tell me when I was there. I asked to speak with manager, Eric, once I was home and never received a return call. The first time I called I wasn't sure what department to speak with, the operator was so impatient that she hung up on me. Fleetie Bonjour doesn't make it. Too expensive regular rack rate - Skoosh makes it more affordable. Would love to hear other recommendations in midtown or other areas.

Very good hotel right in the heart of Manhattan. If you like European hotels you'll like the Sofitel. Like any NY hotel of this class, prices for food and drink can get to be steep - so eat out where you can. But the food in the restaurant is excellent, and everyone is very friendly.

bathroom opened to bed area of room with swing out vertical half doors---would prefer more privacy like a traditional single door. otherwise, highly recommend.
