loved the mansfield. elegance and old world charm lite - not old like you're staying in your grandmother's attic old (hello Algonquin). staff was sharp and courteous. for example came up and knocked on my door at 530 am when they suspected i had slept thru my wake up call (i had). nice quiet library room with leather chairs and chess boards in lobby. elevators are speedy, and both of them work. (hello Algonquin) wifi kind of slow. get some more routers, mansfield. rooms are clean, efficient, modern-ish and dont smell like mothballs. (hello Algonquin!!). no point mentioning how small the rooms are, that's part of the charm of visiting NYC. |

I do not fault the hotel, but rather Skoosh in inaccurately describing the room as a "Standard". If you go to the Mansfield Hotel, the describe the room that I received as a "Petite". Therefore, Skoosh mislead me in its description of the room, which was the smallest that I've ever stayed in. The amenities of the room (apart from size) were good, though the lighting over the mirror in the bathroom was nonexistent and the desk was so narrow that working on it comfortably (chair was too high and desk narrow, was not possible). The location of the hotel and service, overall, was excellent.. The Club Room with its free espresso machine was a nice benefit. I worked on my computer there rather than in my room. The price including tax was $402, which was high give the room size, but a good value for the area. Cheers! |

The Mansfield was so personal and comfortable. It is a beautiful historic building and was very charming. The staff was polite and extremely helpful. We enjoyed the complimentary coffee and tea in the library in front of the fireplace at least twice each day . The room we stayed in was spotless. There are larger rooms but we chose the smallest and it was quite small. If being small is a problem you should pay the extra for a larger room. We did not mind and were in the room very little anyway. The TV was great. All in all we had a wonderful stay and would recommend the Mansfield Hotel. |

Things we LOVED about this hotel: the staff (truly warm and super nice to my son - to an extreme degree- including the wait staff who all tried to help us put together a plane purchased at the perilously close ToysRUS), the beautiful library where you could hang out, read the paper and have a free coffee of your choice, the proximity to Times Square and everything near there, the truly wonderful ambiance of an old hotel with beautiful wooden floors and the lovely elevators. Things you might think twice about: the rooms are small (so what - the rooms are so well planned out you might not even notice, BUT, the thing you WILL notice is that the bathroom door will not close if you are (ahem) on the commode. REALLY. Which makes this place a second thought for folks with a significant other, unless the other is willingtostandintheahallway.But,onthewholewelovedit. |

The price was good. The rooms (a standard) is small, but well-appointed (good bed, linens, and flat screen tv). Staff is very friendly. The air conditioner can make it as cold as you want. Fee wi-fi was a plus. Nice library room on main flloor and the attached M Bar was cozy. If you're going to spend a lot of time in the room, this may not be your spot. It's NYC...get out and see the city. |
