I wouldnt recommend the hotel. There was a weird sewage smell in the rooms. And, the staff was unfriendly. We had to call them three times just to get fresh towels. And, one more thing, they dont have free wi-fi.... |

Hotel is in a very good place. Close to the sea and good reastaurants. Also very close to turist buses and tube station. Excellent location. Although the customer service in a hotel was not the best and it seems that You have to fight for what You already paid. If You booking Your self a room in Hotel Del Mar take with You just a little bit extra of patience. |

Former youth hostel renovated into a smart 3* hotel, although still maintaining the somewhat impassive service of a hostel. Staff were efficient although not distinguished by their friendliness. Rooms clean, spacious (nice bathrooms) although a little noisy if at the front of the hotel (which we were – bring earplugs if a light sleeper). The Del Mar is situated in a rather insalubrious part of the city, around the corner from the decidedly seedy port/harbour area. We certainly didn’t feel safe walking back to the hotel after a night out. Indeed, two members of our groups had their handbags (including a set of hotel keys) snatched not far from the hotel – the hotel's response to which was disappointingly blasé to say the least. If I returned to Barcelona, I would consider other hotels before I returned to the Del Mar - although i wouldn't write this one off completely. One tip, like most European hotels, the Del Mar doesn't privide a kettle in the room (and has a rather useless 'hoover' in place of a hairdryer). Bring both if you value a cup of tea and unfrazzled hair! |
