The hotel is ideally situated in the middle of the Pyrenees of Huesca, within the Ordesa natural park. The mountainous border of France can be reached through the famous international tunnel of Bielsa-Aragonet.
Towns around the area that are worth visiting are Huesca/Jaca. 1208AB. The parador is surrounded by mountain peaks that are almost permanently covered with snow. Near the Valle de Pineta where the parador lies there are some very picturesque meadows which can easily be reached by paths from the hotel. It looks spartan but that is the result of being built with materials (stone, wood and slates) from the area that has extreme temperatures in winter. Typical cuisine eaten in the region, includes famous chicken and lamb dishes al chilindron, migas a la aragonesa (fried bread crumbs) and la trucha a la pirenaica (a trout dish). Famous desserts are las teresitas de Aragon and la flor de nieve. Wonderful views can be enjoyed from the rooms as well as comfortable although austere accommodation. 115 kms to the airport (laredo), 14 kms to city centre, 220 kms to the airport (zaragoza), 80 km to the nearest station (lannemezan (france)). |
